What’s happening about exams?
Ofqual published guidance about grading for GCSEs and A-levels this summer on 03/04/2020 and a video with grading information for students on 09/04/2020.
Year 10 and Year 12 exams have now been completed and students are following their timetable.
What work should I be doing?
A new timetable has been issued for students in Years 7-9 to follow in Term 5, from 20 April. Year 10 are revising for the May online examinations then have a new timetable.

How do I access work for students?
Resources are available on Show My Homework (SmH) to support St John’s students studying at home.
- If you have any difficulty accessing SmH, email our ICT Helpdesk: ICTHelpdesk@stjohns.excalibur.org.uk
- We’ve set up a webpage for students, parents and staff to help you access Office 365 and Microsoft Teams Remote Learning User Guides
- All students and parents should have access to Show My Homework. See our Show My Homework page under “Life id=”Support”at St John’s” for more information about how to log in.
- Students should also check their school emails daily.

What’s happening about Free School Meals?
We are now working with Edenred UK which is delivering supermarket vouchers on behalf of the DfE to families with free school meal entitlement. If you are entitled to receive vouchers, you will receive this support either as an eCode that you can redeem online or as a voucher which we will print off and post it to your home address, or arrange a collection if easy and safe to do so.
What’s happening about immunisations?
Virgin Care provide our immunisations. They are planning to reschedule any immunisations that they have not been able to administer, and they will notify us in due course. If you have any concerns, the Virgin Care immunisation team number is 03002 470082

What’s happening about the DofE Award?
Parents have been informed that the DofE expeditions due to take place in May have been cancelled. The Bronze expedition weekend at the end of June could potentially still go ahead. We have confirmed a new date in the Autumn term for the Bronze expedition- Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th October.

04/05/20 Year 12 online examinations begin today
01/05/20 Year 10 students – you should spend w/c 4 May completing all work set on SmH, and starting your revision, w/c 11 May should be for revision only, for your online exams in w/c 18 May. The new Year 10 timetable issued last week commences after the exams.
01/05/20 Our expedition providers BXM have cancelled the expeditions due to take place in May. As it stands, and pending further advice from the government, the Bronze expedition weekend at the end of June could potentially still go ahead – we will send out guidance regarding this as soon as we can confirm one way or another. In the meantime, we have confirmed a date in the Autumn term for the Bronze expedition. This will be Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th October. As it stands we can’t say whether this will be a training weekend or Assessment weekend but please save this date in your diaries.
30/04/20 Year 10 students have a new timetable to follow. It has been sent to parents and publishes on our Communications page
17/04/20 We now know for certain that things need to remain as they are for at least the next three weeks, but we do remain hopeful that an exit strategy will be in place as soon as possible. 27/03/20 During these difficult times, the English department at St. John’s will be setting students a new prompt to inspire them to write. At the end of each week, we will choose the best entry and – with the winning student’s permission – we will be publishing it on our “Writing While the World Stands Still” page for other students, parents and staff to read and enjoy.
26/03/20 We’ll be sending regular letters and news bulletins to parents and students, so remember to check your emails. Year 11 & Sixth Form letters were sent out this week. You can read them all on the website. This week’s Year 11 letter includes an Exams FAQ section.

20/03/20 Year 7 last day in school. From Monday 23 March St John’s is only open to children of keyworkers and vulnerable students. Staff have begun training as remote teachers.
19/03/20 Following the cancellation of the summer examinations, Mr Tucker made the decision that Thu 19th March will be the last day in school for Year 11 & 13, and we will do our best to make the day special for the students. Read more here

18/03/20 St John’s Marlborough parents have now been informed by email that from Thursday 19th March 2020 the academy will open only for Year 7, 11 & 13 students. Year 8, 9, 10 & 12 students will need to work from home for the foreseeable future. Read the letter from Mr Tucker.
18/03/20 The government announced that schools across the UK will close until further notice, and this summer’s exams won’t go ahead.
17/03/20 We will publish a range of resources on Show My Homework to support students studying at home. Unfortunately we have reached a point where we cannot organise bespoke work for individual students or respond to individual queries. All students and parents should have access to Show My Homework.
