Celebrating German Language Teaching: A Special Honour for Penny Dickinson
SPRACHEN SIND WICHTIG!!! Language Matters!!

We’re delighted to share that Penny Dickinson, one of our German language teachers with an impressive 36 years of teaching experience, was invited to a reception at the German Ambassador’s London residence to celebrate the teaching and learning of German in the UK.
A Message of Partnership and Connection
In her welcome speech, Ambassador Susanne [surname if available] emphasised the vital importance of strengthening cultural and educational ties between Germany and Britain. In the post-Brexit landscape, her message was clear: continuing to work together in partnership has never been more important.
The Ambassador’s other key message resonated strongly: ‘Sprachen sind wichtig’ – languages are important. She’s absolutely right. We cannot afford to assume that everyone speaks English; to do so would be to our detriment in an increasingly interconnected world.
Inspiring Stories from Tony Woodcock
Former England footballer Tony Woodcock shared engaging stories about his experiences as a foreign player in Germany, highlighting the long-lasting friendships and ties he’s maintained with the country. His amusing anecdotes about learning German reminded us all that language learning is as much about building relationships as it is about mastering grammar and vocabulary.
Celebrating a Shared Passion
Following the presentations, guests were invited into the garden to enjoy delicious food and drinks. Penny had the opportunity to connect with fellow teachers, business professionals and others who share a passion for keeping the German language alive and thriving. What a treat indeed!
It was a wonderful celebration of all things German, and a true honour for Penny to be invited. We’re incredibly proud of her dedication to language teaching and her contribution to fostering international understanding through education.
