Equipment

Every student is expected to provide the following basic items of equipment for every lesson:

  • Black or blue pen
  • Pencils
  • Colouring pencils
  • Ruler
  • Highlighters
  • Eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Protractor
  • Compass
  • Colouring pens
  • Calculators
  • Glue stick
  • Dictionary
  • Reading book
  • Green biro/pen
  • Headphones

Calculators: Students must bring a calculator with them to every Maths lesson. We recommend the following two calculators which are available to purchase through the library at St John’s.

  • Casio fx-83 GTX
  • Casio ClassWiz fx-991 EX

Stationary items can be purchased in the Library.

Students are also expected to bring the required ingredients for food technology lessons.

Any books or other equipment that are loaned to students are expected to be returned in good condition. If items are damaged, beyond reasonable wear and tear, parents will be asked to replace the loss or pay for the damage.

Students are expected to look after their belongings and equipment carefully. If an item is lost it should be reported to your child’s tutor. Please ensure that students name their belongings. Any found items can be handed into Reception.

Lost property is available to view each Monday and Thursday in the Atrium between 09:30 and 14:30. This includes such items as PE kit, other clothing, shoes, trainers, football boots, glasses, lunch boxes to name but a few. Valuable items are kept securely in Reception.

Please be aware that St John’s is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property, however caused. Named items are returned to students wherever possible. All unnamed and unclaimed lost property is recycled of at the end of each school term.

The school has been designed to include lots of outside areas which are sheltered from the weather.

We have allocated sports courts for each year group, as well as the remainder of the school field over the warmer months.

Students can eat in the atrium where the canteen is, or on allocated benches outside.

Y7-10 Forum (school council) and Y11-13 Forum and ‘Vice Principal’ and ‘Principal’ opportunities which is a specific role.

Students will also have opportunities to be Sports Captains/ Vice Captains throughout the year, as well as leading through activities in their tutorials/lessons.
