Year 13 Students Get Behind the Scenes at BMW MINI Plant
Our Year 13 students recently enjoyed an exciting and insightful visit to the BMW MINI Plant in Oxford, where they were given a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the iconic MINI.
During the visit, St John’s students witnessed the impressive combination of advanced technology and human expertise involved in manufacturing each vehicle. They watched as mechanical robots carried out precise tasks on the production line, working alongside the skilled workforce, whose knowledge, craftsmanship and attention to detail play an equally important role in the process.
A particular highlight of the trip was the opportunity for students to sit in the driver’s seat of a MINI, giving them a closer connection to the finished product and adding an enjoyable, hands-on element to the experience.
The visit provided a fascinating insight into modern manufacturing, highlighting how automation and human skill work hand in hand to transform individual components into a finished car. It was a valuable opportunity for students to see industrial processes in action and appreciate the teamwork, organisation and engineering behind a world-renowned vehicle.
A special thank you goes to Mr Lacey and Mr Rivers-Davis for organising the visit and providing our students with such a memorable and informative experience
