Art and Photography students inspired by Paris
Year 11 and Year 13 Art and Photography students travelled to Paris in early February for the first residential art trip since the pandemic.
After an early start on the Friday morning, and fuelled by a croissant breakfast the 67 students, plus six staff set off on a predominately walking tour of the city, heading for the Centre du Pompidou to take in the breathtaking Paris skyline and see some truly wonderful modern art. After lunch the group headed via the river Seine and an amazing graffiti-filled half mile walking tunnel to the Musée de l’Orangerie to see Monet’s Waterlilies amongst other works of art before heading to the EiffelTower for our final stop of the day.
The following day the group split into two tours to visit the infamous Mona Lisa at the Louvre and the wonderful Van Goghs at the Musée d’Orsay before meeting up to enjoy a relaxing river cruise on the Seine.
On the final morning students visited a local park overlooking Paris where we saw a group of more mature Paris residence doing Tai Chi before heading back to our coaches for the
journey home.
Miss O’Brien said “It was a pleasure to be able to take so many of our students away for such an enriching and worthwhile experience. Our Year 11 and Year 13 students are diligently working on preparation for their exams so for so many to take inspiration from seeing art and photography first hand was definitely worth all the sore feet and lack of sleep.”
