House Charity Day Raises £2208!

St John’s Marlborough students embraced house spirit and Halloween fun while supporting local charities

Following the tremendous success of our inaugural House Charity Day last year, we were delighted to launch the first of three events planned for this academic year. This further strengthens our commitment to the student-selected charities.

A Day of House Spirit and Community

On arrival, students were greeted by the ever-enthusiastic House Mascots, setting an energetic tone for the day. The effort put into wearing house colours proved extraordinary, with some students impressively dressed head-to-toe in their chosen hue.

With a subtle Halloween theme woven throughout the event, a lively queue soon formed for face painting, where talented A Level Art students transformed faces with house logos and artistic designs. Throughout the morning, the Student Principal and Vice-Principal House Leaders played a key role, offering support and encouragement across all activities.

Lunchtime Activities and Entertainment

By lunchtime, the campus buzzed with an even wider range of events. The atrium became a blur of table-tennis action as students took on three Count Dracula challengers, while others lined up to try their luck at the new charity toy-grabber machines.

In the Sports Hall, Mr Wilson and the PE department brought a competitive edge with the “Dump the Pumpkin” basketball challenge, and an “unlucky dip” run by Mr Broadhurst, sporting a witch’s hat, kept spirits high—if not always victorious.

For those seeking a quieter moment, Halloween-themed cartoons and popcorn offered a cosy retreat in the theatre. As ever, the House Leaders remained active and visible, helping to ensure the smooth running of each event.

Impressive Fundraising Total

Above all, the day successfully blended fun with purpose, raising an impressive £2,208 to be combined with future totals and later shared equally among the chosen charities.

Thank you to all parents/carers, students and staff who contributed.
