St John’s Team Wins Robot Design Award at National LEGO Competition

On Monday 2 March 2026, St John’s took two teams to compete in the First LEGO League Challenge in Bristol. The Challenge is part of a global STEM programme where teams of young people aged 9-16 work together to explore a given topic and design, build and programme an autonomous LEGO robot to solve a series of challenges.
Teams are judged on their Robot Game, Innovation Project, Core Values and Robot Design. Although neither St John’s team won the overall competition, Team 2 achieved remarkable success by winning the Robot Design award – one of the most challenging awards to secure, as judges rigorously assess students’ understanding of their robot, the coding and the design process.
Congratulations to both teams who took part – you were incredible. You represented the St John’s values of Ambition, Integrity and Respect with pride.
