Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2024

Every year St John’s asks its Year 7 students and their families to bring in gift boxes and bags, which are then donated to local charity HVDV – Helping Victims of Domestic Violence and the incredible generosity of St John’s students, families, and staff at the school is always clear to see.

An enormous pile of gift boxes and bags, all filled with presents for adults and children affected by domestic violence, has been handed over to representatives from HVDV, registered charity #1161380 today.

Head of Year 7, Mrs Hawkins said “We have been supporting HVDV for several years, and I think this may well be the biggest donation we’ve been able to give. The charity is incredibly grateful to St John’s families for their generosity, particularly at a time when we know so many are struggling financially. The gifts we have donated will make a huge difference to families affected by  domestic violence”.

Students from 7P helped to load up the charity’s van with hundreds of boxes and bags, which almost completely filled the van.

We also want to thank Year 10 student Scarlett Symon, whose Mum, Rebecca, organised an additional collection of gift bags from her Rock Choir.
