From Sports Day Setback to Success: A Spectacular Sports Week at St John’s

Due to the commencement of building works on the sports field to install the new 3G pitch—funded by the Football Association and the Lionesses Fund—Sports Day at St John’s was in jeopardy. However, as usual, staff rallied together to overcome the challenge, and St John’s held a Sports Week instead!
Students across the school stepped up to compete for their Houses in a wide range of exciting activities: football, rounders, badminton, dodgeball, and even designing sporting icon stencil posters in art. Every lunchtime was packed with fun and challenge, including darts, science scavenger hunts, a historical “Question of Sport”, hula hoop challenges, and epic staff vs student matches in tennis, rounders, and table tennis.
Throughout the week, a talented team of student journalists and photographers captured all the action, while St John’s Sports Leaders did a fantastic job organising and running the tournaments smoothly and fairly.

Sports Week wasn’t just about competition – it was a chance for students to showcase their talents, build team spirit, and bring staff and students together in true St John’s style.
Thank you to all student and staff members who helped to make the week so spectacular!
