St John’s are County Cricket Champions!
Eight year 9/10 boys represented St Johns on Friday at the Wiltshire Schools Softball Cricket tournament.
The day started with an easy win over Clarendon, winning by 65 runs in an 8 over match. We then dominated a strong Corsham team, helped by a fantastic batting performance, winning by 36 runs.
In the quarter finals was another easy 43 run win, before playing Corsham again in the Semi Finals. This was an incredible games needing 17 runs off only 5 balls, we were up against it. But a fantastic batting performance from Barney got us back into the game, along with a couple of wides from the bowler, we managed to draw the game! The game went to a super over and again this was tight, needing 2 runs off the final ball to win! We did it!!
The final was another close affair against Sheldon. Coming down to the final over again. We needed 2 runs, with only 2 balls left! Barney Bonner, sprinting up the wicket to win us the game with one ball to spare!!
All of the boys were fantastic, a real credit to the school and Will Stallabrass was the player of the tournament for his outstanding bowling and batting performances.
Congratulations!
