St John’s held its second Community Christmas event, where elderly neighbours and residential homes were invited to celebrate Christmas at the school.
Guests were treated to a delicious Christmas dinner, served by pupils, followed by dessert, which was so good that many were asking for seconds!
The school orchestra and choir delighted the audience, who embraced the Christmas spirit with community carols at the end of the evening. It was wonderful to see the joy that Christmas carol singing can bring, especially to those who have dementia.
Local resident David Chandler stood up and said to all of the St John’s staff and pupils: “Thank you on behalf of the community for such a wonderful occasion.”
Private carer Tracy said: “Events such as these are invaluable to the community, where some people do not have a reason to leave their homes.”
Thank you to Mrs Jones and Mrs Sanders who organised the event, plus the school kitchen team for their amazing food, and all of the staff and pupils who volunteered their time to help and support on the evening. A true reflection of our school values and Christmas spirit.
