St John’s is proud to be able to host two well stocked and welcoming libraries for students and staff to use; The Atrium library and the Sixth Form library. More information about each library can be found on our Atrium Library and Sixth Form Library webpages accessed through the buttons provided.
The 6th Form Library is a silent study space exclusively designated for them.
Opening Times
The libraries are open at the following times:
- Atrium Library: 7.30am-4.30pm.
- Sixth Form Library: 8.30am-3.30pm.
Our Libraries
Our libraries are safe spaces where students are asked to respect the area in which they are working and be considerate to others. No eating or drinking is allowed in either library.
All students automatically become members of the library and are able to borrow a maximum of 5 books for up to 3 weeks. There is no charge for borrowing books, however, there will be a charge if books are lost or damaged.
The school’s library database, Oliver, is available for all students to use at school or at home. It provides access to the books available in the library, with the ability to make reservations, as well as links to revision sites. The library is stocked with a huge number of fiction and non-fiction books across a wide range of interest and ability levels, as well as magazines, manga, DVD’s and AR Quizzes. Computers are available for use in both libraries for homework or research. The Atrium library has a large range of Accelerated Reader books and hosts reading groups at lunchtimes.
At break and lunchtimes, the library offers students the opportunity to relax with a good book, do schoolwork or carry out research.

As a team, we strive to instil in students a lifelong love of reading for pleasure and at the same time stimulate their curiosity for the world around them, enhancing their literacy skills along the way.
