World Book Day
Every year, St John’s celebrates World Book Day with a week full of events, there are in-person and online author talks, living books, quizzes and the school is transformed with amazing book covers covering every classroom and office door.
Marlborough Literature Festival
We support the yearly local Marlborough Literacy Festival.
In 2025, we hosted the Big Teen Read and Carnegie Shadow Choice Medal winner Nathanael Lessore visited the school, sharing helpful writing tips, answered students’ questions and signed copies of his latest books.
Year 13 have also had the honour of opening the 2025 Marlborough Literary Festival with their Sixth Form debate held in the Town Hall. Their topic: Is it ever morally right to censor literature?
