Art Gallery Term 2 2025-2026

Year 8 – Guernica

Year 8 have completed their fantastic research pages on the Picasso painting Guernica. The Guernica painting is full of symbolism and aligns with their project – Symbolic Portraiture.

As part of this project, they have used the computer for research; had a go at mono-printing and painting with white paint on black paper; and then collaged and added newspaper letters to highlight key words.

Year 8 – Peter Blake

Year 8 have started to create their own pieces based on the work of British Pop Artist Peter Blake.

They have created the mixed media pieces using symbols and imagery that represents them, their lives, hobbies, likes and dislikes.  They are not quite complete, but the students are loving making work completely designed by themselves!

Year 9 – Roy Lichtenstein

Year 9 are half way through a project on Expressive Portraiture and they have really enjoyed making work based on Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein.

Students explored and researched his style then had a go at creating their own expressive self-portraits using pens and colouring pencils.  They are loving the project and have done the most fabulous work!

Year 10 – Circus Printing

Year 10 are continuing their first coursework unit based on the Circus theme.

In Term 2 they have explored drawing with chalk and charcoal, creating really successful lino prints and have done lots of work relating to circus text and fonts.   They have learnt how to manipulate their images in a digital way – a great way to develop new ideas and compositions!

Year 12 – Photography

Year 12 have been creating some amazing images and exploring a mirror theme.
