Year 7 and Year 8 Touch Rugby Competition

On 10th March, St John’s proudly hosted the Year 7/8 Girls Touch Rugby Tournament as part of the Wiltshire School Games. Our student leaders did a fantastic job helping to run the event and officiate matches throughout the day.

This year, we had an impressive three teams competing an incredible turnout that reflects the girls’ enthusiasm and commitment shown at Touch Rugby Club each week.

The tournament gave our players a brilliant opportunity to test their skills against teams from other schools, gain valuable match experience, and showcase how much progress they’ve made this season.

A huge congratulations to our Players of the Tournament: Arabella Broomham, Connie Smith, and Liela Adrazola for their outstanding performances.

Year 10 Netball

Well done to our Girls’ Netball Team at their area tournament.

The Year 10 netball team represented the school superbly at their recent area tournament. Competing in a very strong pool, the girls worked hard in every match and finished third, narrowly missing out on the top two.

They carried great momentum into the Plate competition, playing some excellent netball and showing fantastic resilience and teamwork throughout the afternoon. Their efforts were rewarded with a brilliant second-place finish in the Plate.

A great achievement and a fantastic display of teamwork from the whole squad. Well done girls!

Hockey Leaders

Well done to our hockey leaders who represented St John’s so positively while supporting the primary school hockey festival held at Marlborough College.

Throughout the day, they worked with younger students, helping to deliver coaching sessions and encouraging them to develop their skills and confidence in hockey.

In addition to leading activities, our leaders also took responsibility for umpiring all of the games, showing great maturity, fairness, and knowledge of the sport.

Their enthusiasm, leadership, and willingness to help ensured the festival ran smoothly and created a fun and supportive environment for all of the primary school participants. They were fantastic role models and represented the school with pride.

Table Tennis

Badminton County Finals

Well done to all of those who represented St John’s in our KS3 and KS4 badminton teams at the County Finals. Our boys did fantastically well in reaching this event which was achieved through both finishing 2nd in the regional tournament earlier in the year. We found the jump in standard to be huge at the County Finals and both of our teams unfortunately finished 4th in their groups and did not qualify for the next stage.

It was great for them to get a glimpse at what top level badminton looks like and they have something to work towards if they are to improve on this next year.
