Year 7 Netball
A brilliant first outing for our Y7 Girls’ Netball Team!
In their debut match, the girls took on Devizes School and put in a fantastic performance. They grew in confidence across all four quarters, working tirelessly in defence, sharpening up their marking, and moving the ball swiftly through the court. Their hard work paid off with some excellent scoring opportunities, securing a well-deserved 10–4 victory.

St Johns vs The Deanery
🎉St John’s Year 7 team played their first rugby game of the season against The Deanery School, marking an exciting start to their rugby journey. Despite being new to playing together, the team showed impressive determination and teamwork throughout the match. They communicated well, supported one another, and applied consistent pressure to their opponents. Their resilience, positive attitude, and growing confidence were clear on the field, reflecting their excellent team spirit and commitment. This match was a strong foundation to build on for the rest of the season.🎉

In a dominant display of teamwork and attacking flair, St John’s surged to an emphatic 15–2 victory over Abbey Park Secondary School in a high-energy rugby clash.
From the opening whistle, St John’s looked sharp and controlled proceedings with precise passing and relentless pressure. The scoring was well distributed across the squad, showcasing the team’s depth and cohesion
Year 7 Rugby County Cup: Semi-Final
Score: STJ 4 – 3 Lydiard Park Academy (after extra time)
In what can only be described as a clash of the Titans, Lydiard Park Academy’s Year 7 rugby team fought an epic battle against St John’s Marlborough in the County Cup Semi-Final. The game was a showcase of passion, defensive grit and phenomenal running rugby from both sides, ultimately needing extra time to separate the two evenly matched teams.
An extra time winner from Joe helped win the game, with his second try of the day.

Y7 & Y8 Girls Rugby

Girls Rugby Festival
Hungerford Rugby Club hosted a vibrant Year 7 and Year 8 Girls’ Rugby Festival, inviting St John’s to take part in an inspiring day designed to grow passion and skills in the sport. The festival was created to encourage young female players, highlighting values of teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie.
The event saw the St John’s girls immersed in a carousel of rugby skills workshops throughout the morning, giving them the chance to improve technique while having fun in an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. The day concluded with a lively game of rugby rounders, bringing together all participants for a final burst of competitive spirit.
St John’s made the most of the opportunity, enjoying every aspect of the festival and finishing on a high when they triumphed in the rugby rounders tournament. It was a perfect ending to a memorable day that left the team motivated and inspired for future rugby challenges.
Year 8 Netball
St John’s vs Devizes School
The Year 8 girls kicked off their netball season with an impressive and hard-fought match against Devizes School. From the opening whistle, the team displayed determination, teamwork, and a fantastic attitude. After a challenging first quarter where Devizes took an early 6-goal lead, St John’s continued to build momentum, applying consistent pressure and improving their play with each quarter.
Despite their brilliant comeback efforts, the game ended with a narrow 9–10 defeat. The team should be proud of their resilience, focus, and positive spirit throughout the match.

In their first netball match of the season, the Year 9 girls delivered a fantastic performance against Devizes School. From the first whistle, they showed determination, teamwork, and excellent control of the game. Their relentless effort and smart play created numerous scoring opportunities, leading to an impressive 22–1 victory.

Year 9 Boys Rugby
🏐Year 9 Rugby Match Report – vs Ridgeway🏐
The Year 9 rugby team delivered a commanding performance in their fixture against Ridgeway School, securing an impressive and well-deserved victory. From the opening whistle, St John’s dominated possession and territory, displaying superb teamwork, strong defensive structure, and relentless attacking pressure.
Ridgeway fought hard but struggled to match the pace and intensity of the St John’s side. Every player contributed to the win, with standout performances across the pitch and unwavering commitment throughout. It was a clinical display that reflected both hard work in training and outstanding team spirit — a performance that sets an excellent standard for the rest of the season.

Y9/10 Girls Hockey Team

👏 Huge congratulations to our Y9/10 Hockey Team on a fantastic performance against St Mary’s Calne and winning 1-0 👏
The girls played with brilliant determination, showing great skill both in attack and defence throughout a tightly contested match. Our goal came from a superb set piece, with Eva striking the ball beautifully into the corner.
A special mention goes to Carys, who stepped into goal for the very first time and looked like a natural!

Year 10 Primary Golf Leaders
Year 10 Sport Studies & GCSE Leaders Inspire at Tri Golf Event 🏌️♀️⛳
St John’s Year 10 Sport Studies and GCSE PE leaders shone at the Marlborough Golf Club this week, inspiring local primary school pupils during a fantastic Tri Golf competition. The leaders demonstrated confidence, enthusiasm, and excellent organisation as they delivered clear instructions and engaging demonstrations.
Their encouragement and positivity created an exciting, supportive atmosphere where pupils of all abilities felt included and motivated. The local primary schools were full of praise for the St John’s leaders, recognising their professionalism and outstanding leadership skills.
A brilliant effort by all involved – true role models for the school! 🌟👏

Year 11 Netball

🏐Year 11 Netball Match Report – vs Devizes🏐
The Year 11 netball team put in a fantastic performance against Devizes, demonstrating real progress in their tactical play and showcasing their strong attacking skills. Throughout the game, the team displayed great resilience and teamwork, adapting their strategies to maintain consistent pressure on their opponents.
Betty was deservedly named Player of the Match for her excellent defensive play, making several crucial interceptions and helping to keep the team in contention.
Despite their best efforts, the final score was 24–15to Devizes. The team can be proud of their performance and the improvements they continue to make each match.

Wiltshire Junior Ranking Competition
The Junior Wiltshire Ranking Event took place at Dauntsey’s School, bringing together the county’s top young talent for an evening of outstanding competition. St John’s proudly fielded a remarkable 16 players out of a total of 41 competitors from across Wiltshire, representing an impressive 39% of all participants.
The students delivered exceptional performances throughout the event, showcasing skill, determination, and team spirit.
Their hard work paid off with a dominant showing across both the U15 Cadet and U19 Junior Categories.
